First let me say that as a parent this is my favorite game for my kids to play. The violence level is far below the other video games available for similar ages. The rating is E10+ however I would say that much younger kids can easily play this game, while kids 10+ might prefer PS3 games for older kids.

Madagascar 2 Escape From Africa follows the adventures of Alex, Marty, and the Penguins as they struggle to make it back to New York City. Not to be left behind, Julien and Mort step in and provide the chaos that caused the crash in the first place. With all the usual chaos presented by the many characters, the Madagascar PS3 game successfully follows in the footsteps of the original.

The graphics present Africa in a fun light. The characters are extremely familiar and their quirky characteristics are transported from movie to game with a great deal of success. At some point in the Madagascar PS3 game, children will be able to control their favorites characters in one of the numerous mini-games. Each quirky character has its own unique set of controls that plays to their strengths.

The character’s monologues have captured the hilarity of the movie and will have children chuckling. The voices match closely to the ones from the actual movie. The music changes often with each new mini-game that is played. This keeps the music from becoming repetitive and too annoying for parents.

While this PS3 game for kids is meant to be played as an open world platform, the actual core and plot of the game is defined in the numerous amount of mini-games that are packed in. Some of the mini-games are very familiar takes on the classic child’s games. For example, there is a funny take on musical chairs or hot potato with a stinky fruit. There is also the garden variety collecting mini-games. Kick a soccer ball into a net with Marty. Chase vehicles off the road with the Penguins. Children can cure long-necked giraffes with different potions or control characters for a short dancing game (dancing is a favorite). The sheer numbers of mini-games are guaranteed to keep the game from getting boring.

The game also features an arcade, which provides competition for more than one player. This feature can be accessed from the main screen without tapping into the storyline. The arcade games are relatively short but highly entertaining to play. They can be played over and over again when competing with others.

Some of the best features of the Madagascar PS3 game are the continual changing game play. Each mini-game is short, only a few minutes in each setting. Therefore, the game can easily be picked up and restarted once a mini-game is completed. The game keeps even those children with short attention spans entertained. The sheer variety of game play keeps things interesting.

Madagascar 2 Escape To Africa has a way of keeping things interesting and fast-moving. Children will never bore with so many mini-games to choose from. The arcade allows for some competition without becoming too overly competitive. This game is one of the better kids games for PS3 as it has very minimal violence and younger children can play it without adult assistance. Out of all the Playstation 3 kids games this is the one I choose to let my young son play the most as some of the kids PS3 games are more difficult or have more cartoon like violence. This is one game that can be played over and over again and enjoyed even by the younger players.
